In Denmark vocational education and training is a dual education, designed as a ”sandwich” programme combining theoretical and practical education at a vocational college (approxmately 1/3 of the time) with practical training in an approved company or organisation (approximately 2/3 of the time). VET in Denmark includes more than 100 main programmes with duration between 2 and 5½ years.
In South Denmark we work with the following institutions offering programmes within Vocational Education and Training (brief description in alphabetical order):

Business College South
About the organisation: Business College Syd is located in the city of Sønderborg, Southern Denmark, at two different campuses – a local school and a 250-bed boarding school and a training centre.
Business College Syd offers general upper secondary education and vocational education and training as well as adult vocational training (EQF level 4) within the area of Office, trade, and business services. Each year nearly 200 students graduate from our business high college and 600 students receive a journeyman’s certificate. Business College Syd is a combined school that offers upper secondary and vocational education and adult vocational training. We strive to offer education that relates to the students’ reality, is embedded in real-world challenges, and prepares them for the future ahead of them.
Previous and future EU projects: We have an Erasmus+ accreditation. We offer our vocational education students short-term internships (KA1) either during their basic programme and/or vocational training. We are looking into expanding by offering short-term internships for our high school students and job shadowing for our teachers. All internships are in English-speaking companies.

Svendborg Erhvervsskole & Gymnasier
About the organization: Svendborg Business School & Gymnasium is a combined school, offering 20 technical and commercial vocational education programs, a business high school, and a technical high school. Each year, nearly 1.300 students receive education at one of our three campuses in Svendborg. The schools offer training at EQF levels 3 and 4.
We are dedicated to ensuring that the knowledge and competencies acquired by our students provide them with an active and creative professional foundation, that empowers them to take responsibility for their own lives and the society they inhabit by contributing their expertise, innovative ideas, products, and sustainable perspectives on the future.
Continuous development and innovation within both the academic content of the educational programs and pedagogy in close cooperation with the world of work are therefore integral parts of our approach to education. Internationalization of the programs, student and teacher mobility, and international collaboration play an increasingly important role in our work.
Previous and future EU projects: Our international activities take place within the framework of the European Erasmus+ program and include both KA1 Mobility and KA2 Cooperation projects. Our accreditation to Erasmus+ runs until 2027. Thus far, Svendborg Business High School has profited from KA1 through its partnerships in Spain and Ireland. Besides enhancing the students’ cultural understanding of the host countries, the KA1 Mobility projects have focused on sustainability and European diversity .Additionally, Svendborg Business High School participates in KA2 ‘job-shadowing’ projects that focus on the transfer of educational practices. Going forward, we are looking to offer KA1 Mobility projects to all educational areas of SESG that may benefit from European cooperation. Specifically, we are interested in developing cooperation with schools and educational entities from France and Germany.

Kold College
About the organization: Kold College is an education institution in Odense, Denmark housing a range of vocational educations and a technical high school. The different vocational programmes are exclusively focused on food, experiences, and agriculture. Our technical high school, Kold Tekniske Gymnasium, specialises in design, technology, applied science, and data science.
We strive to provide our students with knowledge and skills that are directly transferable and applicable to the practises and industries they move into after they have finished their educations at Kold College. Thus, our teachers are always looking for ways to shorten the gap between theory and practise when producing teaching material and curricula.
We are a learning organisation – meaning that both structurally and didactically our institution continuously transforms itself in order to accommodate or adapt to en-vogue concepts in the world of education i.e., innovative methodology, technology, learner needs, sustainability, globalisation, digitalisation etc.
Across departments, we are actively looking for new partnerships that can contribute to our improvement on the abovementioned via student/teacher mobility and collaboration programmes.
Previous and future EU projects: Our international engagements are within the ERASMUS+ framework and is comprised of both KA1- and KA2-projects. Through KA1- mobility projects our students and teaching staff have gained knowledge and intercultural understanding via job shadowing and exchange programs with partner schools in Italy, France, and Portugal.
Kold College’s dairy department is engaged in a CoVE project (Centres of Vocational Excellence), which is a kind of sector-specific KA2 project that seeks to develop vocational education and training in general and contribute to regional development.
We are looking to expand our KA2 operations in the future both with small-scale partnerships and cooperation partnerships. We are especially interested in projects about digital learning, sustainability, and retention.
